Paul Protzman, President

Paul Protzman is a recognized medical industry expert and trainer in seated mobility solutions, and the founder of Creative Rehab Technology Services and BEE Mobile, Inc, – both companies that have been acquired by MedEx, Inc.

Paul started his medical product career by representing, selling, training and developing Gunnell Manufacturing custom-built wheelchairs for individuals with severe handicaps – throughout the US eastern seaboard states, Maine to Florida. He initially trained through a teaching Physical Therapist who was the originator in clinical approaches to seating and positioning for severe seating cases related to Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities that create postural deformities or other issues limiting mobility. This combined with his college training in both mechanical and electrical engineering, enabled him to develop and sell specialized wheelchairs for individuals through centers with both Physical and Occupational Therapists’ staffs. He developed unique products and approaches for the wheelchairs offered by the Gunnell Company and began both selling these and teaching other therapists. At that time, he also started to represent other products and companies, including Roho, Meyra wheelchairs, Snug Seat, Freedom Designs, and Varilite cushions. He also taught classes in Seated Mobility Solutions to both Therapists and Dealers throughout the East coast, and for a two-year period, was also National Sales Manager for Gunnell Manufacturing. During this time, he designed and marketed the first combination tilt and or recline car safe pediatric seating system, which could be removed from its base and transfer to the car as a car seat without removing the child.

In 1992, Paul moved to the west coast where he purchased Folio Products, a manufacturing company in Longmont Colorado that built power Tilt-in-Space and Recliners adapted to wheelchair manufacturers power bases to create seating systems for severe spinal cord injured persons. He then began providing the seating and positioning equipment working for what is now APRIA Healthcare and one of his primary accounts was Rancho Los Amigos hospital, nationally known for to be one of the top 10 rehabilitation hospitals in the country. He also worked with Nationwide Mobility in Southern California. In 1997, he started Creative Rehab Technology Services, Inc. specializing in custom wheelchairs, and in 2008 started a second company, Bee Mobile, Inc. to perform service and repairs for medical equipment. Both of these companies are fully accredited, bonded and are Medicare providers. Paul brings to MedEx a strong background in the industry with positions as CEO, COO, sales manager, developer, educator with hands-on experience in company ownership, management, sales, training and product development.
