  • NextPhase brands the BC Bioenergy Network – positioning it as the funding source in BC for companies researching and developing bioenergy solutions

    Challenge
Established in April 2008 with a $25 million grant from the BC government, BC Bioenergy Network helps deploy near-term bioenergy technologies and organizes mission-driven research for the development and demonstration of new environmentally sustainable technologies for the province of BC. As a new organization with little awareness, BC Bioenergy needed to build its brand and position itself as the ‘go to’ resource for bioenergy in BC.

    Action
As BC Bioenergy Network was the new kid on the block, we started from scratch to develop a new corporate identity and positioning statement – “Partnering for a Greener Future”. The next step in the process was to develop a suite of marketing tools to effectively communicate the organization’s mission. This included a corporate brochure, folder, PPT, website and trade show display for the inaugural BC Bioenergy Conference. NextPhase was also responsible for getting the story into the media through a public relations initiative.

    Results

NextPhase helped to successfully launch the BC Bioenergy Network by branding and positioning it with the full suite of marketing tools and producing the first media news release. From there, NextPhase helped get the story into the media, and also supported the promotion of the bioenergy conference. “The NextPhase team was chosen as our communications partner because of their depth of experience branding not-for-profit and NGOs. And they’ve branded numerous companies in the Greentech space,” stated Michael Weedon, the Executive Director of the BCBN.
